As Labor Day weekend is upon us, I want to acknowledge everyone who has been so supportive and helpful throughout this campaign. It has been a very busy summer, given the execution and completion of many successful audits. I want to thank the members of my office for their diligent work and sincere efforts in working to save taxpayer money and cut down on waste, fraud, and abuse. I am certainly looking forward to continuing these efforts into the upcoming fall season. I am working extremely hard to fulfill my duties as your state auditor and this campaign wouldn’t be possible without the effort and support of each individual contributor. Every contribution has made a difference! It is through these thoughtful contributions that we are able to build towards a successful campaign and a bright future together. Public Delivery: 22nd Judicial Circuit (Circuit Clerk) Audit

Today we report the results of our campaign’s fundraising from the last quarter. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been so helpful. I enjoy meeting new people and reconnecting with old friends from across the state. It is nice to hear what is going on with all of you and your families, as well as learn about local issues. I could not keep fighting for Missouri families without all of your support and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Labor Day

To many people, Labor Day symbolically marks the end of summer and the beginning of the NFL and college football seasons. Although that may be true, we should all take a moment away from our BBQs and family time to reflect upon the importance of Labor Day.

All employees, regardless of an affiliation with a labor organization, have benefited from the labor movement in the United States. As a result of this movement, we have five day work weeks, safety standards and mandates while at work, individual worker rights, protection against unfair dismissal, child labor protections and numerous other benefits. As citizens, we should be proud to live in a country and state that recognizes the importance of a healthy workforce.

The first proposal for the holiday of Labor Day called for a street parade to exhibit to the public “the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations,” followed by a festival for the workers and their families. Many parades such as this will be occurring across Missouri on Labor Day. Take the time to reconnect with your neighbors and friends at these fun events.
